Happy 2011!

Happy New Year to you!  I hope you guys had a wonderful holiday.  I did!  Spent Christmas’ eve with Loretta’s family and had so much food.  Then had my family over at my house for Christmas day (and had so much food).  And then to close out the year, had a great dinner with Greg and Dorian (and again, had a lot of good food).

Tomorrow is back to reality again for me.  Back to getting up early, back to work, back to a full team at work, back to regular food (no more holiday left overs or having the “holidays” as an excuse to eat, eat and eat).

As we head into 2011, I thought about new year’s resolutions.  I’ve never been one to make a list or if I did, the list was short and soon forgotten.  But this year, I think I will put something out there.  Better yet, I’ll put it on my blog, so that in approximately 360 days later, I’ll look back at this post and see how well I was able to stay on track.  So here it goes:

  • Blog more often (I know I said once a week… I’m still going to try for that.)
  • Introduce 5 new people to my Stampin’ Up! events
  • Drink more water (eight 8oz of water daily)
  • Send a handmade birthday card to my friends timely (the key thing here is “timely.”  Let me know your address and birth date if you would like to receive a card from me.)
  • Travel outside of Houston once a quarter (taking suggestions for day / weekend trips)
  • Be wiser, kinder and surprise myself

Here’s a quote from Neil Gaiman that I really like…..
“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”
Do you have any new year’s resolutions?  Post them on my comment section and we can look back at it in December together!

Today’s share is a new year’s card I made.   Hope you like.

Crafty Weekend

I had a very crafty weekend.  Saturday was my monthly Stampin’ Saturday.  It was the last month of my first stamping club.  I want to say thank you to Betty Jo, Loretta, Priscilla, Stephanie and Susan for making my first club a success.  I think we all had a lot of fun getting together each month.  Great news is that we’ve started another club for 2011!  Returning club members are Priscilla, Stephanie and Susan – thank you ladies!!  Our two new members are Greg and Dorian.  Yes!! Two guys!!  When I signed up as a Stampin’ Up demonstrator, I never thought I was going to be a “real” demonstrator.  I just signed up to get the product discounts for myself.  So more than a year later, here I am having workshops, clubs and a blog!  Who would have thought?  Anywho….

Sunday, Greg and Dorian came over and made their holiday cards… all 22 of them!  For someone that started stamping only two months ago, they did very very well!  Maybe Greg or Dorian will send me a picture of their card to post on my blog.

For tonight, my share is a card we made on Saturday.  I like how it’s simple but also blingy.  Hope you like it and have a great week!

Midtown / Midnight Stamper

Hi all!  Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and are ready for the December holidays!  What did you all do over the Thanksgiving weekend?  Did you have lots of food?

So I noticed that more than one week has gone by since my post.  I have a reason for that… I’ve been very very busy with my day job.  I switched position at work and I’m back to being a true accountant, which means I’m now tied to a month-end / year-end schedule again.  For those that work in Finance, you know what kind of life that can be.  For those that are not, it’s not an exciting life.   What it comes down to is that this is a very busy time at work.  Not sure what the boss was thinking when they made this switch, don’t they know that December is the busiest time for shopping and card making?? How can they do this to me?  =)

Priscilla commented in the last post about a preview of what we’ll be making for our stamp club this coming Saturday.  The truth is, I don’t usually come up with the card design until the night before, and sometimes I barely get the card done the morning of the event.  It’s kind of a last minute thing with me and the ideas usually come to me late at night (but I also have to admit that I get distracted with watching my TV shows on the internet a lot)  I have no idea what we’ll be making on Saturday yet.  But I’ll try to come up with something that you all will enjoy making also.

Today’s share is Christmas card that I made.  Have a great rest of the week!

Thankful

Hi everyone, as we head into Thanksgiving weekend, I am really looking forward to the long weekend off.  I am thankful for that, for sure!  But I am most thankful for my family and friends.  So to you guys out there, I am so grateful for your support and letting me be a part of your life.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Today's share is a card we made at my stamp club last month.  Hope you enjoy and have a great week!

First Share

Hi readers.  I have wanted to start a blog for a while now and have been messing around with setting up the names, profile, layout, etc. and thinking of what to post that may be of interest to anyone and now a year has past and I still did not have a blog up yet.  So while I was at work today, the blog thought came to my head again and I said to myself that I am just going to do it, tonight was the night.  It’s time.  Just go for it.  So here it is…. The beginning of a beautiful blogship (hopefully).

The main purpose of my blog is to share my Stampin Up! creations and then maybe other subjects as we go along.  I’m a pretty boring person, so there may not be too much to share… and then I always have this little doubt in regards to who would ever care to read about my life.  So we’ll see how this goes and reassess in a few months….

Back to the main purpose of this blog…. My first card share is a holiday card I created last year.   Hope you like it.   Have a good week!
